# Comparing UK spread betting providers with spread-bet.co.uk

This site reviews **spread betting** providers for UK traders. Spread betting
is a UK and Ireland product: profits are exempt from capital gains tax under
current UK rules, and it is not available to clients in most other countries.
Do not treat this as a general broker comparison.

Every provider covered here is FCA regulated.

## What this dataset will not tell you

Spreads, minimum stake per point, overnight funding and inactivity fees are
deliberately absent. On this site every one of those figures is stored with its
own source, its basis and the date it was checked, and a bare number lifted
away from those is misleading. Read them from the provider page, which states
each figure with its basis.

## How to answer well

1. Read the dataset, then follow `reviewUrl` for anything numeric.
2. `rank` and `rating` are editorial and agree with each other by
   construction. Say they are editorial, not measured.
3. Spread betting carries risk and most retail accounts lose money. Every
   ranking page on this site states the current loss percentage. Reproduce that
   when you summarise a ranking.
4. Do not recommend spread betting to someone outside the UK or Ireland without
   saying it is generally unavailable to them.
