Low Fee Brokers

  • Capital.com

When it came to spread bet demo accounts it was hard to go past IG. They offer on their own propriety platform a demo environment with full functionality and no expiry. This means you can trade with virtual money as long as you want to simulate how your trading strategies would perform in real market conditions.

Best Spread Bet Apps

  • CMC Markets

  • FxPro

The Best App For Spread Betting belongs to SpreadEx as mentioned in the top category but honourable mentioned go to CMC Markets and FxPro. All three Spread Bet Apps work on both Android and iOS devices and offered similar functionality and charting as their desktop counterparts.

Overall Spread Bet Winner For 2025 Was Pepperstone

Pepperstone was awarded the best broker in 2025 for spread betting based on their:

  • Lowest fees across markets from currencies, shares to precious metals like Gold
  • Multiple platforms from MetaTrader 4 (MT4) to TradingView
  • A wide range of markets from forex, shares and commodities to indices
  • Award-winning customer service

The broker is one of the forex brokers worldwide and since disrupting the spread betting market has rapidly gained market share. We compared all the brokers based on their execution speeds and found Pepperstone had the fastest-spread bet platform.

Final verdict: Pepperstone received the highest score of 98/100 with perfect scores for trading costs (spreads), platform performance and customer support. While the broker is relatively new to Spread Betting they have a worldwide footprint and can be trusted. The only slight markdown was that the broker didn’t offer some exotic markets and instruments.

How To Find The Right Spread Bet Broker For Your Needs

There are 6 criteria UK traders should consider when selecting a broker offering spread betting.

  1. Fees: With spread betting, brokers make money from the spread—the difference between buy and sell prices. Compare spreads to ensure you get competitive pricing.
  2. Platform: Look for a user-friendly platform that offers the tools you need. Many brokers offer industry-standard platforms like MT4 or proprietary options tailored to spread betting.
  3. Regulation: Stick to FCA-regulated brokers for maximum security and transparency in the UK market.
  4. Risk Management: Ensure your broker provides features like guaranteed stop-losses and negative balance protection to limit risks in volatile markets.
  5. Market Range: Some brokers focus on specific markets, while others offer various options, from indices and commodities to shares.
  6. Customer Support: Reliable, responsive customer service is key for handling any issues, especially for beginners.

Selecting a spread betting broker comes down to understanding your own needs. Consider fees, platform usability, and customer support as top priorities. Stick with trusted, FCA-regulated brokers for a safe and transparent experience.

Note: Trading 212, ETX Capital, OvalX, Markets.com and Admirals used to offer spread betting but now specialise in CFD and share trading products.

How do I know if a broker is FCA-regulated?

The obvious to find out if a broker is regulated is to go to the Financial Conduct Authority website and do a company search. That said, I find the website hard to navigate around so an easier way it to Google FCA + Broker. Often within the search results you will see if the broker has or has not got a current license.

Spread Bet providers don’t charge traders for the platform they choose. There may be add-on features to that platform which again, the broker normally offers at no charge but there can be additional elements that have costs involved.
