About David Levy
David Levy is Head of Content at CompareForexBrokers, the broker comparison network behind Spread-Bet.co.uk, and has been checking broker data since 2018. He manages a team of up to five writers, plans and briefs what the sites publish, and gives every broker review its final editorial sign-off before it goes live.
He verifies spreads, fees, account types and platform features against each broker’s own website and trading platform rather than against its marketing material. More than 100 data points per broker review pass under his sign-off, and spreads are reverified monthly.
He came to it from software testing, and holds the qualifications that go with it: ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level, and Salesforce’s Certified Administrator and Certified Platform App Builder certifications. They are listed below with the bodies that issued them. The relevant part is not the letters but the habit — checking a published figure against the document behind it is a testing job before it is an editorial one.
What “Fact Checked” Means On This Site
It is a gate, not a byline. Every page rebuilt on this site is written up first as a review map: a document listing what the page now claims, what changed, what was removed, and every judgment call made while building it — including the ones the writer expects to be overruled on.
David reads that map against the page. The fact-check byline goes on at the moment he clears it, and not before. A page whose map is still open does not carry his name, and a claim he does not clear does not ship.
The effect is visible in what our pages do not say. Figures we cannot attribute to a provider’s own UK material are absent rather than estimated, superlatives we could not evidence have been removed rather than softened, and where we withdrew a figure we had previously published, the page says so and dates it.
