FxPro Summary
We compared the 16 UK spread betting platforms with FCA regulation and found FxPro to be ranked poorly as the 2nd worst broker . The reason we ranked FxPro so poorly was their fees with an average spread of 1.94 in July 2024 versus the industry average of 1.53. There are also a lack of markets available to spread bet (100).
A positive is the low minimum deposit and the FxPro EDGE platform wasn’t too bad. Features like tight risk management, above-average execution speeds, and one-click trading should prove very useful if you’re a scalper.

FxPro only offers its FxPro Edge standard account, which applies a spread-only pricing model with no commissions. To give you a better picture of what to expect, I tested the spreads with my own FxPro account.
In my tests, FxPro offered surprisingly wider spreads than its competitors, with a minimum spread of 1.40 pips on EUR/USD. It did at least remain fairly consistent, averaging around 1.47 pips across all the pairs in my tests.

As you can see, FxPro sits way down on my list of the tightest spreads. One good thing here is that the average spread seemed to stabilise around the minimum, which I like to see.
So at least you’re not likely to experience spreads much wider than the average 1.40 pips.

However, our senior analyst Ross Collins did find that FxPro is more competitive for indices:

Our Verdict on FxPro’s Spreads
FxPro does offer some competitive spreads, like those on indices and commodities. However, the forex and share spreads really let the broker down.
The only good thing I can say is that they don’t deviate too far from the minimum spread, but I still have to score FxPro 1/10 here.
Like many spread betting brokers, FxPro only provides its proprietary trading platform for spread betting. This platform is called FxPro EDGE.
FxPro EDGE Web Platform
l actually enjoyed using FxPro’s proprietary EDGE web platform for spread betting. It’s a well-designed platform that I found visually appealing. This might be a nice antidote to those who find the MT4 platform a bit ‘retro’.
The broker has done an excellent job with its charting package, too. You have over 50 technical indicators, including moving averages and Bollinger Bands, as well as 15 timeframes. You should find it easy to implement your trading strategies with the platform.
One feature I really appreciated is the ability to easily customise your watch lists. This meant I could declutter my screen and focus only on the markets I care about. As an active trader, I also like that they offer one-click trading, which many other proprietary web platforms seem to forget about.
Another useful feature I found was the ability to track your overall trading performance over time, using graphs to represent the performance. This was really helpful for keeping tabs on my realised PnL and looking at the data to see where I could improve my trading.
One negative fact to highlight is automation and customisation, or the lack of it. I couldn’t find a way to automate spread bets or add custom indicators on the FxPro platform, which was a bit disappointing.
So, if you like to use MetaTrader 4/MetaTrader 5 with its Expert Advisors (EAs), or the cTrader platform, you won’t be able to. You can use these platforms with FxPro, but only for CFDs, not for spread betting.
This definitely led me to mark FxPro down in my review. But I should say that this is generally a very capable platform, as long as you’re focused on manual spread betting.
In addition to the web platform, FxPro offers the Edge platform as a mobile trading app too. You can use this for spread betting on the go, with either iOS or Android devices.
I found that the mobile apps include the same features and tools as the desktop platform, including the same indicators, watch lists, and economic calendar tools.
Plus, you can receive push notifications through the app. I like this, because it helps you to react to market movements, manage your positions or execute your trade on the move.
Trading Central
FxPro doesn’t offer many tools, but it does offer an excellent service called Trading Central. This gives you real-time trading signals based on its pattern recognition software.
I found Trading Central helpful for finding additional trade ideas, especially when my strategy was in a dry spell.
The software scans the markets to identify high-probability trade setups based on technical and fundamental analysis. Each signal is accompanied by an analyst’s commentary on the reasons behind the signal.
Another nice touch was receiving the Trading Central newsletter in my inbox every morning. It provides an overview of potential opportunities to watch for that day and general market updates. I find it useful for staying in the loop on what’s happening in the markets.
Our Verdict On FxPro Trading Platforms
FxPro limits your choice to the FxPro EDGE platform, which would normally be a negative in my book. However, I found that this platform gives plenty of the tools you need, with 50+ indicators, one-click trading and performance tracking tools.
While there’s no automation or customisation for your indicators, you do at least get access to Trading Central. This helps you supplement your market analysis with different trading ideas.
Yes, FxPro is safe. It’s one of the largest spread betting brokers I’ve tested, with over 7 million traders, and is fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. So your funds will be secure.
I think FxPro’s regulation by the FCA provides great protection and trust while you spread bet. FCA-regulation means client funds are segregated, negative balance protection is provided, and the broker must maintain adequate capital levels, ensuring they do not go bankrupt.
Should anything drastic happen, like the broker going out of business, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) will protect your funds.

Although the broker offers over 2,100 financial instruments, I found that this only really applies to other types of trading. For spread betting, you only get access to around 100 products.
This is largely because the broker doesn’t offer spread betting on stock markets, which is disappointing to be honest. You can at least still take advantage of stock market movements by betting on FxPro’s stock indices
I found that FxPro’s selection of 69+ currency pairs is on par with other top spread betting brokers for forex trading.
From what I saw, they cover all the major and minors, and even a few exotic forex pairs. So you have the choice of trading high liquidity markets like GBP/USD, or chasing volatility with pairs like USD/ZAR.
FxPro’s commodity offering isn’t the widest, offering only three energy markets and eight metal markets (including gold and silver). However, it does cover the most popular trading instruments.
FxPro provides access to over 19 stock indices markets, which is more than most brokers I’ve tested.
With top options like FTSE 100 and S&P 500 to spread bet on, you can bet on most of the global indices. This does make up for a fact you can’t bet directly on stocks, at least a little.
Our Verdict On FxPro Trading Products
FxPro offers a strong selection of forex and stock indices markets, surpassing many brokers I’ve tested. However, I did notice that they lack many asset classes, like shares, bonds, and ETF markets – other brokers offer these.
Despite this, I believe FxPro’s range will suit most traders’ needs when it comes to spread betting markets.
FxPro provides multiple options to fund and withdraw your trading account, with no additional costs.
I found that the minimum deposit at FxPro is a reasonable £100, which makes the broker accessible even if you are just starting with spread betting.
When I opened my live account, the deposit process was simple and fast, and FxPro did not charge any fee. You can fund your account via bank transfer, which takes one business day, or a debit card, which offers almost instant deposits.
I used a bank transfer and made a test deposit of £1,000, which was credited to my account the next morning. In my testing I consider this a fairly quick turnaround.
As a criticism, it would be nice to be able to use electronic wallets like PayPal, Skrill, or Neteller to fund the account. Many traders I’ve spoken to prefer these methods, so I view FxPro is letting traders down in this area.
FxPro offers fee-free withdrawals via the same methods as deposits: bank transfer or debit card. The withdrawal will be processed within two business days, though in my experience, it was faster than this.
I made a withdrawal, and it was approved the same day. The funds hit my bank account about 20 hours later. This is roughly standard for the industry.
However, your withdrawal speed may vary a bit based on your specific deposit method. Debit card withdrawals, for example, could potentially be quicker than my bank transfer.
Opening my spread betting account at FxPro was easy thanks to its step-by-step instructions and fully-online process. I should mention that you must choose to open an FxPro Edge account when you sign up, as the other account types do not offer spread betting.
As with any regulated spread betting broker, you must answer some standard personal questions about your financial status and trading experience. This is to gauge whether a spread betting account is appropriate for you.
It took me just a few minutes to complete the questionnaire and upload the necessary documents to verify my account. After being verified, my account was activated, which allowed me to deposit my funds.
Overall, I was able to get my account set up and funded within 20 hours, which isn’t too bad.
Our Verdict On FxPro Funding
FxPro offers a straightforward way to fund and withdraw money from your spread betting account. With reasonable minimum deposit, fast processing times for all funding methods, and no added fees, I think FxPro does an excellent job in this category.
When choosing a UK spread betting platform, order execution speed and trading conditions are big factors to consider. In my testing of FxPro, I found their execution to be quite decent.
Execution Type
While testing the broker, I had a smooth betting experience. FxPro achieves this through straight-through processing (STP), which allows trades to be executed quickly.
According to the broker, they average a market execution speed of 12 milliseconds. While brokers like
Pepperstone can beat this quite easily, it still shows that the account can be useful for scalping the markets.
Personally, I didn’t encounter any requotes or slippage, so FxPro does seem to be executing trades with decent speed.
My viewpoint is this, combined with a no-dealing desk (NDD) execution policy, helps the broker provide excellent trading conditions. My SpreadBet co-founder, Noam Korbl, explains more about NDD.
“The Straight-through Processing (STP)/ No Dealing Desk (NDD) approach enables brokers to provide the fastest execution speeds,” Noam said.
“This is because the trades are sent straight through to the liquidity provider, with no hold-ups. If you’re a scalper, this can be especially beneficial, as you need to act swiftly in the market”.
Low Stop Loss Thresholds
Another feature I found useful was the broker’s tight stop-loss levels. These stop-loss levels could be as close as one pip to the platform’s stated market price.
This is much better than the 15+ pip minimums many other brokers require, which can leave you exposed to serious losses before the trade is closed out automatically.
The ability to place stops so near the current price lets you keep your risk to an absolute minimum. Building on this, the broker allows hedging trades, so you can reduce your downside risks without closing positions.
Our Verdict on FxPro’ s Trading Conditions
I think the tight stop-loss limits are probably the best thing about FxPro’s trading conditions. These are great for traders with a low risk appetite, or for those who simply want more control over their positions.
The execution speeds are very good, thanks to the STP/NDD model, although both Pepperstone and City Index execute trades more quickly.
FxPro offers 24/7 customer support, which is something I look for in a brokerage, as you never know when you might need immediate help.
I was able to contact them with questions through multiple channels, including live chat, phone, and email.
There was also a decent help centre that hosts answers to commonly asked questions. However, the help centre’s search function left a bit to be desired – it wasn’t always easy to find the answers I needed.
When I connected with customer service through live chat, I was instantly connected with a real person, which is a big positive for me.
One unique and very convenient feature FxPro offers is a “request call back” option, allowing you to have a member of the support team call you rather than waiting on hold. I haven’t seen many other brokers provide this, and it’s a nice touch that saves time.
My one complaint about FxPro’s customer service is that they ask for a lot of personal information before answering even a simple question – like your full name, email, and phone number.
I find this annoying, especially if you’re not logged into your account. It feels excessive when all you want is a quick answer.
Verdict On FxPro Customer Service
I was impressed with FxPro’s customer service. They were prompt and polite via the live chat feature, while the callback request service will really save you time.
The 24/7 operation is another excellent aspect of FxPro’s service. I would say that the broker stands out in this category.

After spending some time on my FxPro UK account my thinking is that the broker offers good trading conditions, which is one of my priorities when choosing a spread betting broker.
The service is supported by the FxPro EDGE platform with its range of tools and indicators that are ideal for technical analysis.
